Indie production outfit A24 have teased a sequel to horror hit Talk to Me

Less than one month into its US/UK theatrical release, the US-based producer-distributor shared a graphic on social media announcing a sequel.

The video sees the film's embalmed ceramic-covered hand transform into the number '2' amid the title Talk 2 Me: The Sequel. A caption 'coming soon' then appears across the visual.

Production and casting information have not been provided alongside the announcement. However, a screenplay is already in the works from original director Danny Philippou alongside Bill Hinzman (who co-wrote the first film), but plot details are to be revealed.

The original film world premiered at Sundance Film Festival during the Midnight Selections sidebar and was selected by A24.

Talk to Me follows a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits by using an embalmed hand, and become addicted to the new thrill - until one of them unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.

It starred Sophia Wilde alongside Miranda Otto, Alexandra Jensen, Joe Bird, Otis Dhanji and Zoe Terakes.

The film was co-written and directed by brothers Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou, based on a concept by Daley Pearson.

The production filmed in Adelaide, Australia for a budget of $4.5bn USD.

Speaking to our sister site Screendaily last month, the Philippou brothers also hinted at other upcoming projects, including an action film and another horror, Bring Her Back. They plan on re-teaming with Talk To Me producers Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyto of Causeway Films on both.

”I would never make a film without them. Every film, going forward, is with Causeway,” said Danny.

A24's portfolio of horror hits include: Jeremy Saulnier's Green Room (2015) Ari Aster's Hereditary (2018) and Robert Eggers' The Witch (2015).

They are also company behind Academy Award-winner Everything Everywhere All At Once, Uncut Gems, Midsommar, Lady Bird, Moonlight, HBO's Euphoria and more.
