A Prince biopic is being developed based on a memoir by author, actress, and dancer Mayte Garcia, Prince's first wife.
Crazy Legs Features is on the hunt for a screenwriter for the scripted biopic based on The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince.
Tom Cappello, Scott Thigpen and Marie Halliday are producing for Crazy Legs. Gilbert Davison, Prince’s friend and security director, who later became Prince's personal manager, and president of his estate and recording complex, serves as associate producer alongside Paisley Park.
Prince Rogers Nelson was a prolific recording artist with over 40 studio albums and won a number of prestigious musical awards and both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. He died on April 21, 2016, at age 57 of an accidental fentanyl overdose.
As one of the world's celebrated musical talents, Capello, Crazy Legs' Productions Co-Founder and CEO, said the company is eager to start developing the project.
Crazy Legs Features is a division of Crazy Legs Productions, located in Atlanta, Georgia and best known for working on reality TV shows. According to their Instagram, Crazy Legs Features has wrapped three feature films and four documentaries this year, with more coming in 2024.
Garcia, who is a best-selling author, dancer, and actress, said in a statement: "Crazy Legs is a perfect partner to bring this deeply personal reflection of my life with Prince to the screen.
"Their diverse body of work shows an artistry and craft to tell personal stories about the most complex, most beautiful human beings. This film will provide an intimate look at the man I loved, our life together, and his lasting influence."
