Taiwanese remake of Korean drama 'Itaewon Class' sets filming date

Fired Up, the Taiwanese remake of the hit Korean drama Itaewon Class is set to begin filming in December. 

Mandarin-language pop star Eric Chou stars alongside Angela Yuen, Shao Yu-wei, Huang Guan-zhi, Cosmos Lin, Ben Wu and Sean Lin in leading roles. Fired Up is co-directed by kao Pin-chuan and Tseng Ying-ting, with a script by Chien Li-ying (Wave Makers).

The series follows an ex-convict who opens a pub after his release from jail in the hopes of preserving his family’s restaurant while undertaking a quest to uncover the truth behind his father’s tragic death.

Warner Bros Discovery is reuniting with Taiwanese production company DaMou Entertainment to produce Fired Up, which will be presented as an HBO Asia Original.

The Taiwanese TV production will also involve Korea’s Kakao Webtoon, the production company behind the original. 

The 2022 Japanese remake, Roppongi Class, stars Ryoma Takeuchi and Yurina Hirate and was produced by Korea's Kakao, JTBC Studios, and Japan's TV Asahi.
