'The Ice Road 2' starring Liam Neeson to shoot in Australia this month

The Ice Road 2: Road to the Sky will begin production in Victoria this month. The Australian state is doubling for Nepal. 

Joining Liam Neeson, who returns to his role as long-haul ice road trucker turned rescuer Mike McCann, are Bernard Curry, Geoff Morrell and Grace O'Sullivan.

Original The Ice Road writer and director Jonathan Hensleigh returns for the sequel. The Ice Road 2: Road To The Sky is a Code Entertainment/Shivhans/EMA production. 

Filming will begin in the Gippsland town of Walhalla. It will also shoot in and around Melbourne and at NantStudios @ Docklands Studios Melbourne, making of its volume screens and technology.

Producers are Code Entertainment’s Al Corley, Bart Rosenblatt and Eugene Musso, along with Shivani Rawat of ShivHans and Jonathan Hensleigh, as well as Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts (EMA). Executive producers are Jonathan Dana, along with Julie Goldstein and Connor Flanagan of ShivHans, and Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel of The Solution Entertainment Group, and David Buelow of EMA.

The Ice Road 2: Road to the Sky was attracted to Victoria through the Federal Government’s Location Incentive and the Victorian Government’s Victorian Screen Incentive and Regional Location Assistance Fund.   

According to VicScreen, "The production will create nearly 600 employment opportunities for Victorian screen industry workers and extras, with 15 locals taking on leading Head of Department roles. The film will inject over $30 million into the state economy - boosting jobs, the economy and attracting visitors from across the globe to Melbourne."
