Holly A Hines and Eric Jarboe have launched an LA-based film and TV studio, Happy Accidents.
Happy Accidents will specialise in the production and distribution of films, scripted and unscripted series, documentaries and formats. The studio will work with international partners to develop, finance, and produce high-end original content, and will distribute owned and third-party content globally.
Founder and co-CEO Holly A Hines was the executive producer of Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia, as well as Fortitude for US-based Pivot and UK-based Sky and produced shows such as NBC’s The Office, ABC’s Ugly Betty, and Showtime’s Tudors. Previously she was the Head of Network Development for Spotify Studios, after stints at Pivot and Fremantle North America.
Jarboe was formerly COO of the Motion Picture Corporation of America (MPCA), during which time he produced over 130 films and 125 episodes of scripted television and has developed projects with ITV, The Hallmark Channel, Lifetime, Peacock, Amazon/Freevee, GAC, and Sony Television.
As co-CEOs of the studio, Jarboe and Hines will manage all creative and financial aspects of Happy Accidents and its production of high-end films and series.
The Happy Accidents SVP team will be attending the spring International Television Market (MIPTV) this April to meet with buyers, partners, and co-producers, having already picked up international rights to Canada’s Syrup Studios’ slate.
The studio has also picked up international distribution rights to a slate of non-scripted finished tape and formats from Jenny Daly’s US-based Critical Content Studios, an SK Global company. Happy Accidents will distribute the Critical Content formats of Catfish and Cheap Old House, and the format and finished tape of Storage Hunters and morality-based gameshow A Wicked Offer.
