The Witcher has begun filming its fourth season at UK's Longcross Studios. Production commenced on April 8.

Season four follows Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freay Allan) who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

Liam Hemsworth has taken over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill, and joins the aforementioned returning cast as well as Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Bart Edwards as Emhyr, Joey Batey as Jaskier, and Meng’er Zhang as Milva.

New to season four are Laurence Fishburne as Regis, a world-wise barber-surgeon with a mysterious past;  District 9's Sharlto Copley as a bounty hunter named Leo Bonhart; James Purefoy as Skellen, Emhyr’s court advisor and high-ranking spy; and Danny Woodburn as Zoltan, a fan-favourite dwarf from the books and games.

The Witcher is executive produced by Steve Gaub, Mike Ostrowski, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko of Platige Films, and Hivemind Content's Jason Brown and Sean Daniel.

In 2021, Netflix entered a deal to operate and expand the Longcross Studios complex, taking a long-term lease at the site in Surrey, 20 miles outside of London. The studio has been host to James Bond films, the instalments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Star Wars franchises.
