Mediapro Studio appoints María José Rodríguez as Globomedia managing director

Mediapro Studio has appointed María José Rodríguez as managing director of the outfit's production company Globomedia, headquartered in Madrid, commencing on September 1.

Previously responsible for original production at Amazon Prime Video in Spain, María José Rodríguez will oversee Globomedia’s content strategy and production operations, reporting directly to Laura Fernández Espeso, CEO of The Mediapro Studio.

Rodríguez joined Amazon in 2020 as head of original production in Spain, launching series such as Culpa Mía, Reina Roja, Los Farad, and the first live-airing show on a streaming service OT. Previously, she directed original production at Discovery Max, working on Amazonas Clandestino, El Mago Pop, and Frank de la Jungla. 

Globomedia has produced over 50 series and 13 feature films as well as entertainment programs. Their series include Paraíso, Nasdrovia, Locked Up, Estoy Vivo, The Boarding School, Aída, Los Serrano, Red Eagle, 7 Vidas, The Boat, Un Paso Adelante, and Paco’s Men, among others.
