Sources confirm to KFTV that Étoile, the ballet series from Marvelous Mrs Maisel's Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino is currently filming in New York City, and production also is taking place in Paris.
Étoile was granted a two-season order in April 2023. The eight-episode original series comes from co-creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, of Gilmore Girls and Bunheads, who will write, direct, and executive produce.
The series stars Luke Kirby, who previously worked with the Palladinos on The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Charlotte Gainbourg of The Pale Blue Eye and Nymphomaniac — who replaced Call My Agent's Camille Cottin — Outlander's Simon Callow, The Innocent's Lou de Laâge, Gideon Glick who also appeared in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, and West Side Story's David Alvarez.
Étoile is set in Paris, France and New York City, USA, and follows the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies, as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars. The series is being filmed on location in both cities.
Étoile is executive produced by Amy Sherman-Palladino, Daniel Palladino, and Dhana Rivera Gilbert. Scott Ellis will serve as co-executive producer. The series was developed under Amazon Studios’ overall deal with Sherman-Palladino and Palladino.
