California-based Sylmar Studios will be completed in January 2025.
Located in Sylmar, California, the 300,000 square foot space features six sound stages with catwalks and perms to support productions. It was built in an Opportunity Zone - a geographic area in the U.S. designated to encourage economic growth and job creation in low-income communities.
The facility also includes its own onsite set lighting and grip department, which opened its rental services earlier this year. The equipment has serviced productions such as Prime Video's Bosch and Netflix's Lincoln Lawyer.
Sylmar Studios has partnered with Spectrum Entertainment Enterprise Division to provide technologies with exclusive IDF rooms, a high-speed network, and a central plant/chiller system.
The facility also includes 100,000 square feet of office space with stage adjacent production support including make-up, hair, green rooms, and dressing rooms, concierge support staff, 600 secured covered parking spaces, event space and more. The studio will implement a Zero Waste Initiative that will divert all waste from the landfill.
Sylmar Studios is led by president and general manager Patrick Dempsey, whose previous work includes roles at The Culver Studios, Wanda Studios-Qingdao, 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Entertainment, DreamWorks SKG, and more.
