Ridley Scott films latest feature in Jordan

Scott previously filmed in Jordan while making Prometheus in 2012, and in 2015 he chose the specific area of Wadi Rum for eight days of filming on The Martian.

His latest production All the Money in the World received support from the Jordanian armed forces, the Royal Air Force and the local government entities. The film stars Kevin Spacey and Mark Wahlberg.

All the Money in the World explores the story of oil magnate Paul Getty, whose grandson John Paul Getty III was at the centre of a kidnapping plot in 1973. Besides Spacey and Wahlberg - who described the “incredible setting” of Wadi Rum as “spectacular” - the film stars Michelle Williams, Charlie Plummer, Timothy Hutton and Ghassan Massoud.

Mark Huffam, who has produced many of Scott’s films, said: “You couldn’t get more enthusiastic crew anywhere and they seem to be enjoying what they are doing, which makes it more enjoyable for us."

He also praised the help received from the authorities and from the Royal family, saying: "Prince Ali has been incredibly helpful to us. We have nothing but good experiences here. We find it a very user-friendly place to film.”
