Gil Kenan is directing a cast that includes Jim Broadbent, Sally Hawkins, Zoe Colletti, Toby Jones and Maggie Smith.
Kenan also wrote the script with Ol Parker, adapting a book by Matt Haig. The novel is the first in a series, leaving the possibility of a future franchise of movies for Netflix.
All the locations being used for the movie offer filming incentive support. In Finland (pictured), feature producers can access a 25% cash rebate when they spend €150,000 locally, while the Czech Republic and Slovakia both offer 20% rebates.
London remains one of the world’s top production hubs.
Studiocanal will release A Boy Called Christmas theatrically in selected international territories and Netflix will make the film available in the rest of the world.
