Italy, Jamaica and Norway have been confirmed as the key international filming locations for the next James Bond movie, which remains known as Bond 25.

The movie is based at Pinewood Studios near London and has already shot scenes in Norway, which are reportedly action beats on a frozen lake.

Scenes will be shot in Matera, distinctive in southern Italy for its rocky outcrop location.

The city is well known for its prehistoric cave dwellings – known as ‘Sassi’ – that have held UNESCO World Heritage Site status since 1993.

Bond’s Matera shoot will coincide with the city’s status as a European Capital of Culture for 2019.

Matera previously hosted scenes for the Warner Bros/DC superhero movie Wonder Woman so filming for Bond is likely to draw further attention to southern Italy’s potential as a location for big-budget feature production.

The Bond franchise last visited Italy only a few years ago when Sam Mendes shot a key car chase in central Rome for Spectre.

Norway continues to emerge as an international filming location and supported Bond 25 with incentive support close to €5m.

Jamaica is seen as a spiritual home for the Bond franchise, as the location of author Ian Fleming’s ‘GoldenEye’ residence and also a repeat location for the films. The new Bond shoot could help boost the country’s Caribbean production profile.
