Superhero movie Spider-Man: Far From Home is filming scenes in the Czech Republic.

The movie is the next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to feature Tom Holland as Spider-Man and features a story that follows on from the ensemble adventure Avengers: Infinity War.

Filming on Jon Watts’ movie has been based at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden outside London, but the production team has shifted to the Czech Republic for two weeks of shooting, according to regional media outlet the Prague Reporter.

Local production spending will reportedly reach $11m, making it one of the most expensive international shoots hosted by the Czech Republic in the past ten years.

Spider-Man’s central European shoot is not the first time Marvel has filmed in this part of the world. Key action scenes for Captain America: Civil War – that in fact also involved Spider-Man – were shot in the German city of Leipzig, 160 miles west of Prague, while parts of Avengers: Age of Ultron were shot on location in Italy.

The Czech Republic is a key European filming location with cities that can double for story settings across Europe and a 20% rebate administered by the Czech Film Fund.
