Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jessie Buckley are set to star in a new feature about the controversial 1970 Miss World beauty pageant, to be filmed in the UK.

Misbehaviour comes from The Crown producers Left Bank Pictures and will be directed by Philippa Lowthorpe.

It centres on the event held at the Royal Albert Hall in 1970, hosted by Bob Hope, during which the stage was invaded by protestors from the Women’s Liberation Movement.

The contest went on to be won by Miss Grenada, Julie Hosten, beating the favourite Miss Sweden and becoming the first black woman to win the title of Miss World.

Knightley has been winning plaudits for her starring role as French novelist Colette in director Wash Westmoreland’s feature of the same name, filmed in the UK and Hungary. Mbatha-Raw recently completed her role in Peter Pan origins story Come Away, which also filmed in the UK with Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo.
