Based on a graphic novel by Brian Ralph, the ten-part series is set in a future Glendale where a 17-year-old must search for his missing girlfriend among a rabble of Mad Max-style gangs.

Production is scheduled to run through to the beginning of April next year.

Netflix has big intentions for New Mexico, having recently announced plans to acquire Albuquerque Studios to develop a regional production hub. The streaming giant has already produced several projects in the state, including the Emmy-winning Western series Godless.

As a state, New Mexico is a US filming hub, especially for films and TV series with desert settings.

The legacy of the acclaimed, Albuquerque-filmed TV series Breaking Bad is that New Mexico offers higher filming incentive support for television shoots than for films and the city is now home to Better Call Saul, a prequel series to Breaking Bad.
