Filmmaker Rian Johnson is shooting murder mystery feature Knives Out on location in Boston, Massachusetts.
The movie features an all-star cast headlined by Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Johnson’s last feature as director was Star Wars: The Last Jedi and he will be a key creative force on a new trilogy of Star Wars films to be made after JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX has wrapped.
Craig is understood to be fitting in Knives Out ahead of his return to the James Bond franchise in the UK early next year.
Boston is not a production hub for big-budget or high-profile shoots but does regularly host smaller-scale films and TV shows.
Greta Gerwig’s new movie adaptation of literary classic Little Women has been filming in Massachusetts in recent weeks and the TV drama Castle Rock, based on multiple stories from horror novelist Stephen King, has been a long-term resident of the town of Orange in the north of the state.
Boston native Mark Wahlberg likes to shoot close to home. The actor and producer recently shot Peter Berg’s crime thriller Wonderland in the city and other locally-filmed projects have included comedy sequel Daddy’s Home 2 and Patriots Day, which marked another collaboration with Berg.
