Filming is underway on crime drama Unspoken in China and Winnipeg, Canada, which will double for the US.

The co-production between China's Huanxi Media and Canada's CMC Pictures, is filming in both Chinese and English-language with an ensemble cast including Chinese star Zhang Hanyu, alongside Michael Cudlitz, Jake Abel and Vivienne Ten. Chris Lee is serving as executive producer.

Directed and written by Daming Chen, Unspoken follows an ex-cop and estranged father, Xu (Hanyu) who has been separated from his deaf daughter attending university in the US. After she is suddenly murdered, Xu travels to the US where he believes the local authorities’ investigation has been compromised by their racism and they are after the wrong person.  Xu attempts to reveal the truth behind his daughter's murder and reconnect with the new life she had built in the states.

Unspoken is expected to be released later this year.
