Disney+ original series National Treasure is underway in Louisiana

The TV adaptation joins projects such as Renfield, The Burial and Heart of Lion currently being hosted in the state.

Production is underway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on the Disney+ live-action series, National Treasure, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The Disney+ adventure series is being produced by ABC Signature, part of Disney Television Studios, and will be an expansion of the National Treasure film that starred Nicolas Cage. 

The story follows young heroine, Jess, played by Lisette Alexis, who embarks on an adventure to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.

Zeta-Jones (Traffic, Ocean’s 12, Terminal) will play billionaire treasure hunter and black-market antique expert, Billie, who lives by her own code. From a penniless orphan to a businesswoman Billie is used to getting what she wants but this time she is after the Pan-American Treasure which means more to her than just money.

The regular cast also includes Zuri Reed, Jordan Rodrigues, Antonio Cipriano and Jake Austin Walker.

The series is being executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the original film, alongside Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman, KristieAnne Reed and Jon Turteltaub, series writer Rick Muirragui and director Mira Nair.
