Production on the sequel to Jio Studios and AA Films' comedy-horror Stree has started in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, India.
Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the 2018 film saw people of Chanderi live under constant fear of Stree, a spirit of a woman who attacks men at night during festivals. Vicky (Rao), along with his friends, decide to unravel the mystery.
While in the first film citizens fled from Stree, makers of the sequel have hinted that its residents will seek Stree's protection.
Today (July 11) Kapoor shared an ominous video on Instagram announcing the start of production along with the film's release date.
She captioned the teaser: "[more fear has spread in Chanderi!😱 ... Stree 2 filming begins! ... coming - August 2024!]"
Alongside the film's original stars, the sequel will also star Varun Dhawan, Aparshakti Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi.
Stree 2 will be produced and directed by Amar Kaushik, alongside Dinesh Vijan for Jio Studios.
