Indian production house T-Series has set a filming date for the third instalment of popular horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiya.
Directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Bhushan Kumar, the makers of the threequel aim to start production before February 2024.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 stars Kartik Aaryan which reunites the actor with Bazmee, who collaborated on the sequel which released in 2022. The original film was directed by Priyadarshan in 2007 and starred megastar Akshay Kumar.
The franchise premise centres around an ancestral palace believed to be haunted by a ghost of Manjulika where the protagonists have to navigate a series of untimely events.
According to local outlet Pink Villa, a source close to the project said: “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is in the scripting stage at the moment and the team has locked the basic plot for the third part of this iconic horror comedy franchise. The idea is now being developed into a full-fledged story. Bhushan Kumar is himself closely working on getting all aspects of this horror comedy right and is committed to take the film on floors by February 2024."
The source added: "Anees Bazmee will dive into the pre-production of BB 3 from end of this year. Kartik, Anees and Bhushan are all very careful about the brand Bhool Bhulaiyaa and have zeroed in on an idea that does justice to the world of this film, yet has a unique element in the overall scheme of things. It will be shot over a period of 4 months starting from February."
It is unclear at this stage where filming for threequel will take place. However, BB1 filmed predominantly in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India including locations such as Chomu Palace and City Palace. BB2 also filmed in real mansions in Jaipur and Lucknow, and other locations included Mumbai and Manali.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will be produced by T Series, and is slated for Diwali 2024 theatrical release for
