Warner Bros have set a production date for their live-action feature adaptation based on Mojang Studios' video game Minecraft.

Minecraft: The Movie, starring Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Matt Berry, centres on the malevolent Ender Dragon who sets out on a path of destruction, prompting a young girl and her group of unlikely adventurers to set out to save the Overworld.

According to Production List, the shoot will take place in New Zealand on August 7, 2023.

Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess helms the adaptation.

Mary Parent and Roy Lee will produce, with Jill Messick receiving a posthumous producing credit for developing the movie before her death in 2018.

Executive producers are Jon Berg, Cale Boyter, and Jon Spaihts.

Minecraft is a 2011 sandbox game developed by Mojang Studios, with Mojang’s Lydia Winters and Vu Bui also serving as producers on the film.
